Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Reopens After Bomb Threat Fully Inspected

The Detroit-Windsor tunnel reopened Thursday evening after police fully investigated a bomb threat, Global News reported.

An anonymous call to the duty free shop nearby indicated there may be a bomb inside the tunnel early Thursday afternoon.

The threat came from the Canadian side, tunnel chief executive Neal Belitsky told The Associated Press. Windsor police were notified around 1 p.m. and the tunnel was evacuated and closed.

Detroit Police's bomb squad entered the tunnel around 2:30 p.m. They fully inspected the tunnel and found no bomb, CBC tweeted

Up to 29,000 vehicles pass through the tunnel daily, according to DetroitNews.com.
