HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia government is providing the province's municipalities with $30 million in its annual equalization grant.

The unconditional funding is for fiscal 2012-13.

The amount of the grant is based on available funds and the government says the same funding level has been maintained for seven years.

The government says it is also conducting its first fiscal review of municipal programs in more than a decade.

The Municipal Relations Department says consultations are underway with the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities and the Association of Municipal Administrators.
