Toronto city council has unanimously approved a change to the city's street food policy that will allow hot dog vendors to expand into new territory.

Hungry baseball fans or late-night clubbers will now have a choice of something other than street meat.

Those craving pre-packaged cut fruits, pre-packed salads, or pre-packaged nuts and seeds are in luck. They'll be able to find their desired foods at the local hot dog cart.

Vendors will also be able to sell pre-cooked veggie burgers, soups, coffee and tea.

If the hot dog carts want to sell other pre-cooked foods they'll need to get permission from Toronto Public Health.

More changes to the regulations are expected in the coming years.
