Doctor Rejean Thomas, a pioneer in HIV and AIDS research, is opening a new clinic in Montreal's Gay Village.
L'Actuel Sur Rue will be located on Montreal's busy Sainte Catherine Street in the heart of the Gay Village.
Thomas already runs two other testing clinics in Montreal, but believes Quebecers should have more options when it comes to taking care of their sexual health.
The doctor said 25 per cent of people who are HIV-positive in Quebec do not know of their condition. About 50 per cent of people with Hepatitis C are also unaware of their infection.
Anybody will be allowed to walk into the clinic, either to learn more about HIV and AIDS, or to get tested.
Visibility is a crucial aspect for this new clinic, according to officials.
The centre will be at street-level, some say it will remind people they should be getting tested.
