LaSalle shooting leaves man dead

Montreal police are investigating the shooting death of a 60-year-old man last night in LaSalle.

Police said it happened as the man went to the door of a home at around 9:30 p.m., near the intersection of Gamelin and George Streets.

Constable Raphael Bergeron says the man was shot at least once.

"The suspect left on foot and the victim had to be rushed to the hospital where unfortunately he was pronounced dead after he arrived," said Bergeron.

Bergeron said the motive for the shooting is not clear at this point.

The police major crimes unit was on the scene Monday morning interviewing any witnesses.

Bergeron said this is the 16th homicide so far this year in Montreal.
