5 arrests in Brossard credit card fraud bust

Police in Longueuil, Que., have raided three houses and arrested five people for possible fraud in Brossard this morning.

All five people arrested in the city are aged 26 to 34. Police say they may make two more arrests in the case.

The street gang task force for the Montérégie region was also involved in the raid which started around 4:30 a.m. ET.

Const. Mark David, spokesman for the Longueuil police, said "we found out that these people were in possession of fraudulent credit cards and these people would go into different stores and buy lottery tickets with these false cards. When they would win, this is how they made money."

David said police have seized a number of false credit cards.

The people arrested are being questioned and may be charged later today.
