Man in critical condition after hit and run

A 54-year-old man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run accident Thursday evening in east Montreal.

The man was riding his motorcycle south on Pie IX Boulevard, when he was hit by a vehicle turning onto Pie IX from Grandes Prairie Boulevard.

According to Const. Anie Lemieux, reconstruction experts are trying to figure out exactly what happened.

"They will try to determine the exact circumstances and also try to gather as many elements as possible to have more information concerning this vehicle that fled the scene, and also the person driving the vehicle," she said.

The vehicle is a 2002 or 2003 khaki green Nissan Altima with major damage to the passenger side of the car.

Witnesses say the driver sped away with the back bumper dragging on the ground.

The car went south on Pie IX and then west on Jarry Street.

Police are asking anyone who sees this car to call 911.
