Police say the collision occurred on Sunday morning, when a northbound TTC bus collided with a westbound vehicle in the intersection of Peter Street and Richmond Street West.
The bus then struck a southbound taxi, left the roadway and hit a building — a café known as Little Nicky’s — where it came to rest.
Const. Clinton Stibbe said police don’t believe that drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash, but they are reviewing other possible factors. Police are also trying to determine what the status of the traffic lights were when the crash occurred.
"Presently we are still looking at mechanical issues, possibly with the bus," Stibbe said, noting that police will also review video from the bus to determine "what if any charges need to be laid in this particular case."
Several people received non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
"Things aren’t that bad in this particular collision, they could have been worse," Stibbe said.
The investigation continues.
