The Canadian Olympic Committee has set a goal of finishing among the top 12 countries in the overall medal standings at this summer's London Games. In a series of scouting reports, The Canadian Press takes a look at Canada's medal potential. This week, we focus on the rowing team.

Canadian Press medal projection: 4

Past Results: 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics; 2 silver and one bronze at 2011 world championships.

Background: The women's eight has been a consistent runner-up in competition and has been close to the Americans. The men won the eight in Beijing but the Germans are top dogs this time, with a young Canadian crew looking to make the podium. Dave Calder and Scott Frandsen hope to challenge for gold after winning silver four years ago in the men's pair. The women's lightweight double of Lindsay Jennerich and Patricia Obee won silver at the worlds last year.

Ones to watch: If all goes well on the day, the lightweight men's doubles sculls team of Morgan Jarvis and Douglas Vandor could add to the medal haul.

Own the Podium funding since 2008: $7,444,000
