Brent Hayden Leads 3 Canadians Into Swimming Semis

Canada's Brent Hayden posted the fifth fastest time in the 100-metre freestyle heats Tuesday at the London Olympics.

The Mission, B.C., qualified for the semifinal by placing third in his heat. The top 16 swimmers advance.

Hayden's time of 48.53 seconds was 34 seconds behind fastest qualifier Adrian Nathan of the United States.

Fellow Canadians Scott Dickens of Ancaster, Ont., and Audrey Lacroix of Pont-Rouge, Que., also advanced to their respective semifinal races.

Dickens posted a time of 21:10.95, the 13th fastest in the men's 200-metre breaststroke.

Lacroix qualified for the women's 200-metre butterfly semifinal with a time of 2:09.25, finishing 15th. Teammate Katerine Savard came in at 19th and did not advance.
