Hamilton hospital says C. Difficile contributed to patient death

St. Joseph's Healthcare has reported to local media that C. Difficile contributed to a patient death.

An outbreak was confirmed at the Charlton Campus Saturday.

The patient, who was over 85 years of age, died July 11.

C. difficile is a bacterial infection that can be particularly harmful to people with weak immune systems such as the elderly or ill. Hamilton General Hospital also declared a C. difficile outbreak late Monday afternoon.
