A group of cyclists rode through downtown Montreal Friday night to show support for Antoine Ancelin, a courier seriously injured by a car this week.

Ancelin, 33, sustained serious head injuries after an SUV hit him near the corner of De Maisonneuve Boulevard and McGill College Avenue on Thursday.

Ancelin is in hospital in stable condition.

The incident happened after a dispute with the driver.

The driver, 22, faces charges of dangerous driving, assault with a weapon and criminal negligence.

He was released from police custody after the incident with a promise to appear in court in October.

Ancelin was not riding on the De Maisonneuve bike path when he was hit.
