TORONTO - Toronto's mayor has been released from hospital.

Rob Ford was released Thursday afternoon after spending two days in hospital with an irritation in his throat and stomach.

Before his release, councillor Doug Ford told reporters outside of the hospital that his brother was doing well, but will have to focus on losing some weight.

Rob Ford went to hospital Tuesday night after feeling unwell.

In January, Rob Ford launched a public weigh-in campaign in an effort to lose weight. He weighed 330 pounds when he first stepped onto the large scale set up outside his office.

The Ford brothers had pledged to each shed 50 pounds by the end of the campaign, encouraging Torontonians to join them in slimming down and to donate money to charity for every pound the pair lost.

The mayor tipped the scale at 313 pounds at the final weigh-in in June.
