Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing In Vancouver

Vancouver police say they have a 47-year-old man in custody after a man in his 50s was found stabbed to death behind an apartment block near Renfrew Park on Wednesday night.

Investigators were called to the complex in the 3400 block of Renfrew Street after receiving 911 calls about screams coming from the rear of the building just after 9 p.m. PT.

Speaking at a news conference, Sgt. Randy Fincham said investigators quickly identified the man now in custody as a person of interest in the case and found him driving in the area of Boundary Road and the Lougheed Highway.

According to Sgt. Fincham, the man gave chase and hit a police car before being arrested around 4 a.m. PT and charged with dangerous driving and obstruction of justice.

The man in custody has not been charged with any counts relating to the death but is still considered a person of interest in the case. Police have not yet released the names of the deceased or the man in custody.
