Toronto will play host to its own series of events on Sept. 6.
Fashion's Night Out was launched in New York in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and to draw shoppers back to stores in a bid to bolster the industry's economy during the recession.
The star-studded New York event — which coincides with the start of Fashion Week in the Big Apple — has since expanded to cities around the world, with events held last year in 18 countries. Australia, Brazil, China, India and the U.K. are among those set to participate this year.
The Toronto event will include designer appearances and exhibitions in spots throughout the city from 6-11 p.m., including the Queen St. West and Yorkville shopping districts.
This won't be the first time Fashion's Night Out has had a presence north of the border. Last year, events were staged in select cities in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
