Family escapes house fire in Vaughan

A family managed to escape unharmed from a fire in their home on Fermar Drive in Vaughan, near Jane Street and Teston Road.

The mother was woken by the smell of smoke and managed to get everyone out of the house.

When firefighters arrived they reported heavy smoke and flames from the garage.

The fire spread to the rest of the house above the garage.

There were no injuries.

Damage is extensive and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
