Jordan Lucas: Kitten Torture Video Leads To Animal Abuse Charge (WARNING: Graphic Details)

Kitten Torture Video Leads to Abuse Charge

A Vancouver man has been charged with animal cruelty after a 50-minute cellphone video of a kitten being tortured was discovered.

A woman who had bought a used cellphone was horrified to find the abuse video left on the device, said a BC SPCA news release on Friday.

“You can see the kitten being punched, slapped, and strangled with a cord around its neck,” general manager Lorie Chortyk told The Huffington Post B.C. “It’s really quite sick.”

The footage also shows the black and white kitten being thrown against furniture and spun around by a cord around its neck.

According to the news release, the kitten groaned and cried at several points and appeared to be injured and disoriented.

Only the male abuser’s hands, including a distinctive tattoo on the left hand, were visible in the video. But Vancouver police were able to trace the cellphone and match the tattoo to a suspect, said Chortyk.

Jordan Lucas, who was also wanted for breaching probation on unrelated charges, was arrested on Thursday in Richmond. He faces one count of animal cruelty.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in jail, a fine of up to $10,000 and up to a a lifetime ban on owning or having custody of animals.
