Iconic astronaut Neil Armstrong has died, but will be forever remembered through photos of his incredible life and historic journey to the moon.

Armstrong died at age 82 from complications of cardiovascular procedures, his family confirmed. He became the first person to step on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.

Many of the famous moon landing photographs feature fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin, as Armstrong manned the camera, reported the Daily Mail when a never-before-seen still of Armstrong's moon walk emerged in 2009. Slamming conspiracy theories surrounding the moon landing, Armstrong joked "they were never a concern to me, because I know someone is going to fly back up there and pick up the camera I left there."
