SIU investigates after Ingersoll woman jumps from window

A woman was hurt jumping out of a window while trying to avoid police in southwestern Ontario this weekend, an incident which is now being investigated by the province's police watchdog.

According to a news release from the Oxford County OPP, officers were called to investigate a disturbance in Ingersoll, Ont., on Friday evening.

While police were investigating the incident, a 49-year-old woman jumped from a second-storey window.

The OPP says the woman was found a short time later at a different address.

She was subsequently taken to a hospital in Tillsonburg, Ont., for treatment of "a serious injury which she had sustained in the fall," states a news release.

The OPP contacted the Special Investigations Unit after the incident.

The SIU investigates all incidents involving police in which death or serious injury occur, or when allegations of sexual assault are raised.
