Police say girl, father assaulted in home invasion

Durham Regional Police are probing a reported home invasion that saw five men break into a Pickering residence and assault a man and his 10-year-old daughter.

According to a news release, police were called to a home in the Pickering Parkway and Notion Road area just after 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say the suspects broke into the house and pointed a gun at the homeowner and also assaulted the man and his daughter.

The suspects fled the residence with two cellphones they had stolen.

No arrests have been made so far.

While neither the homeowner nor his daughter was seriously hurt, neighbours told CBC News that the incident has left the man and his family shaken.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2530, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
