Last night's match-up between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Toronto Argonauts was more than chance for the Argos to even the score after their season opening loss to the Eskimos - it was also the grounds for a friendly Facebook bet between Edmonton mayor Stephen Mandel and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

According the the Edmonton Sun, the two mayors had a "friendly wager" on Monday night's game.

The respective mayor of the losing team's city would put the opposing team's logo as their cover photo on their Facebook page.

With a 26-17 win for the Eskimos, Ford swallowed his pride and added the Eskimos logo to his Facebook page this morning with the message "Edmonton Mayor Mandel contacted me with a friendly wager - the Edmonton Eskimos were in town to play the Argos. The loser must support the other team on twitter and Face book. The Argos lost 26 - 17...so Go Eskimos Go!"

To which Mandel posted on Facebook: "Toronto Mayor Rob Ford You look great in green and gold! Better luck next time!"

Both mayors took to Twitter as a part of the bet, as well. Ford wrote: "Go Eskimos Go @MayorMandel you won fair and square."

To which Mandel replied: "You look great in green and gold! Better luck next time!"

The two mayors have met in recent weeks when Ford was visiting Edmonton. The football fans got together for an Eskimos game, and are also in talks to set up a match between an Alberta high school football team and one of Ontario's top youth teams.

"He's a fanatical football coach," Mandel said of Ford. "He loves that more than anything, so we're trying to make arrangements at some point in time for a game against his team versus a team in Edmonton."
