Manitoba investigating after 1,300 hogs euthanized

An Animal Care Act investigation is underway after 1,300 hogs from western Manitoba had to be put down.

The province's Chief Veterinarian's Office was told Friday night that the hogs were being mistreated on a farm.

The hogs were inspected and found to be in severe distress.

That led to a decision to euthanize them to prevent any more suffering.

Manitoba Agriculture says no further details are available.
