CALGARY - A 27-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter after an altercation outside a Calgary bar left a man dead.

Scott Robert Hooser was charged on Monday, the day after Brian Ludwig, 41, was dropped to the ground with what witnesses described as a single punch outside Swigs pub.

Ludwig had been at the pub as part of its annual charity fundraiser, a golf tournament.

Police say they were called to the pub at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday morning.

Ludwig was transported to hospital, where he died.

Police said an autopsy has concluded that blunt force trauma was the cause of death.

Hooser has been remanded in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
