Toronto search part of Rockwood homicide probe

A search conducted by police in a west-end Toronto neighbourhood is related to an ongoing homicide investigation in Wellington County.

Toronto police confirmed that the officers who were seen working on The West Mall on Tuesday and Wednesday were looking for evidence in relation to a recent homicide in Rockwood, Ont.

Area resident Robin Thede told CBC Toronto that police first arrived at the scene on Tuesday evening.

Earlier this week, Ontario Provincial Police reported that they were investigating the death of a woman in Rockwood, a town that lies about 80 kilometres west of Toronto.

A 36-year-old Rockwood man was subsequently arrested in Peel Region on Tuesday. The OPP say he faces a charge of first-degree murder.
