Happy Endings star Elisha Cuthbert is engaged to her boyfriend of four years, Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf.
Cuthbert, 29, and Phaneuf, 27, broke the news to around 35 friends and family members at the New Glasgow Lobster restaurant in P.E.I. on Sunday.
“Happily, happily, happily, happily engaged!! This has been the most amazing weekend ever,” the actress tweeted, after announcing the surprise to the couple's loved ones.
In an interview with the Toronto Star, restaurant manager Karl Nickelson said, “They’re good customers, we’re honoured that they chose our restaurant."
Though pictures of the engagement ring have yet to be released, the restaurant servers said it was "huge."
“Last night we had the privilege of hosting a surprise #engagement party for #dionphaneuf and #elishacuthbert. Congrats to them both,” the restaurant tweeted, on Monday.
The two started dating in May of 2008. This is the first engagement for Phaneuf, and the second for Cuthbert.
The Girl Next Door star was once set to marry Justin Timberlake's long-time friend, Trace Ayala, but called off the engagement in 2005, saying she was not in any "hurry."
Still, a hearty congratulations goes out to the soon-to-be-hitched Canadian power couple. As they say on Cuthbert's TV show, "so cute. Super cute."
