CALGARY - Hundreds of people turned out to a Calgary church Monday to remember a 13-year-old boy who died from an injury he suffered while riding a longboard.

Duncan McRae was hurt when he crashed into a cable fence while riding down a hill last Tuesday.

He suffered a severe injury to his throat and died in hospital.

Pastor Kevin Carruthers told the teen's family and friends that it's hard to comprehend why someone so young is dead.

Carruthers said there is no rational explanation for such a tragedy.

A makeshift memorial has been set up at the bottom of the hill where the teen died. (CHQR)

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. An earlier version misspelled McRae.
