LAVAL-DES-RAPIDES, Que. - Former student leader Leo Bureau-Blouin has become the youngest-ever member of the national assembly.

Bureau-Blouin, who turns 21 in December, won the Montreal-area riding of Laval-des-Rapides for the Parti Quebecois in Tuesday's provincial election.

He beat out Liberal incumbent Alain Paquet.

Up until this summer Bureau-Blouin was leader of one of the student groups spearheading the fight against the Charest Liberals over tuition fee increases.
