According to Edmonton music blog, gigcity.ca, the case for McCartney is strong. He's never played Edmonton before (as a Beatle or a solo act,) his website has been teasing tour dates with a "stay tuned" message, and he has a new record - "Kisses on the Bottom."

Whatever the outcome, mayor Stephen Mandel will be on hand to announce the mystery performer, reports the Edmonton Journal, so chances are the act is a big one.
