MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Police in southeastern Alberta believe a 94-year-old woman whose body was found in her burned apartment had been murdered.
Medicine Hat police say preliminary autopsy results show the woman was beaten to death.
Investigators also believe the fire, late last month, was deliberately set.
The woman's body was found when officers and firefighters responded to a small fire inside the apartment.
Police believe the woman was the tenant of the suite.
They say they're waiting for DNA tests to confirm her identity before they will release her name.
