Paul McCartney Edmonton Concert: Former Beatle To Play Rexall Place (TWEETS)

Paul McWhoCares: Is Edmonton Even Happy About This Concert?
AP

You called it, Edmonton. Paul McCartney is coming to Alberta's captial this fall and so many of you couldn't be happier to hear it.

Or could you? There were also quite a few "Paul McWhoCares" and "meh" tweets thrown around today after the announcement.

Some people were hoping to see another name announced- *ahem, Rolling Stones or Radiohead.*

Or maybe it's just that the younder Twitter-set aren't relating to men in their 70s.

Many more just thought the pre-announcement hype was overdone.

Love it or hate it, Mayor Stephen Mandel was at Rexall Place this morning to announce the concert that created much buzz this past week, ever since Live Nation sent an email promising "a major historical concert event scheduled for Rexall Place."

Some of the theories thrown around on Twitter and Facebook this week included Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead and Bruce Springsteen.

McCartney has never, solo or with the Beatles, played Edmonton before, so it won't be surprising if tickets for the On The Run tour sell out quickly when they go on sale Sept. 14.

McCartney will be promoting his latest album "Kisses on the Bottom" - a record his site describes as "a collection of standards Paul grew up listening to in his childhood." The album includes two new McCartney compostions, as well.

According to paulmccartney.com, ticket prices will range in price from $37.77 to $247.27.
