Quebec Superior Court Judge Marc André Blanchard has granted a permanent injunction blocking the federal government from destroying the province's portion of the gun registry.

He ruled that the province of Quebec is entitled to the database related to the province's registry.

The Harper government had repealed the registry and ordered that all data be erased.
