Atlantic Canada residents took to social media on Monday and Tuesday to show tropical storm Leslie's effects on their communities.

Leslie touched down around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning in Fortune, N.L., and towns from there to areas on the Avalon Peninsula are suffering high winds and rain, Canadian Press reported. Other areas of the province also experienced heavy rains. Photos uploaded to Twitter depicted structures blown over or torn by winds, trees uprooted, branches snapped, and debris cluttering neighbourhoods.

Tropical Storm Leslie Hits Canada

Several schools and services are closed for the day or until further notice (For a full list, visit CBC). Newfoundland Power is providing information regarding power outages, the Telegram reports.

Social media users have also reported on power outages, accidents and potential dangers, while some just wished for their fellow residents safety.
