MOOSE JAW, Sask. - A former NDP MLA says she will run for mayor of Moose Jaw, Sask.

Deb Higgins welcomed a room full of people Friday to announce her intentions for the civic election on Oct. 24.

Higgins says infrastructure is a major issue and believes all three levels of government need to get together to address the shortfalls that cities are experiencing across the country.

Former mayors Al Schwinghammer and Dale McBain stood alongside a room full of friends and family members who were on hand to throw their support behind Higgins.

Higgins says she will announce more plans to keep Moose Jaw moving forward in the coming weeks.

Deb Higgins joins Fraser Tolmie in the race for the mayor's chair, as current Mayor Glenn Hagel plans to retire at the end of this term.
