A fatal crash shut down the Gardiner Expressway in both directions for about six hours on Friday morning.
Police say a man in his 30s was killed overnight in a motorcycle crash.
The rider was heading eastbound near the Humber Bridge at about 1 a.m., when he lost control, hit a barrier and was tossed into the westbound lanes of the expressway.
He was then hit by a vehicle in the westbound lane.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
Police believe the motorcycle was travelling at a high rate of speed before the incident.
Eastbound lanes are closed at the Lakeshore exit and westbound lanes are closed at the South Kingsway exit.
The Gardiner remained closed until just after 7 a.m.
