Christy Clark Pays Tribute To Peter Lougheed
CP

B.C. Premier Christy Clark is paying tribute to deceased former Alberta premier Peter Lougheed, calling him a "renaissance man" who helped transform Alberta into an economic powerhouse.

Clark released a statement with some kind words for the former premier who died in hospital Thursday evening.

Clark's statement is attached below:

"Today Canada lost a true renaissance man - a leader with vision and passion, and an undeniable legacy.

"His work to develop oil and gas resources in his province not only transformed Alberta into an economic powerhouse, it has led to prosperity for all Canadians. As one of the greatest premiers he fiercely defended his province's interests while helping build a country.

"He will forever be remembered for the creation of the Heritage Fund, however his influence was far greater. His inspired leadership laid the foundation for western Canada's influence in Ottawa today.

"My thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight as we mourn the loss of a true Canadian treasure."
