HALIFAX - A report into the East Coast Forensic Hospital that was launched following the beating death of Raymond Taavel in Halifax earlier this year will be released Tuesday.

The provincial government ordered the review in May after Andre Noel Denny was charged with second-degree murder in Taavel's death.

Denny was granted a one-hour leave from the hospital on April 16 but he didn't return.

Hours later, Taavel's body was found outside a downtown bar.

The Health Department has said the review focused on patient supervision and public notification when a patient fails to return while out on a pass.

It also examined community access privileges granted to patients who have been found not criminally responsible.

Denny's case is due to return to Halifax provincial court Thursday.
