LEWISPORTE, N.L. - Registered nurses in central Newfoundland demonstrated today outside the office of the provincial member of the legislature for Lewisporte.

Debbie Forward, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Nurses Union, says staff adjustments planned for the Lewisporte Health Centre raise concerns about adequate care for patients on overnight shifts.

Forward says the union is also concerned about the possibility that the new staffing model will become the norm for other facilities with the Central Health Authority.

The authority says they are actually adding more nursing staff.

The demonstration occurred at the office of Wade Verge, the deputy Speaker of the legislature.
