Firefighters are cleaning up after battling a massive blaze in a new residential area in Maple Ridge, B.C.

The fire engulfed a number of homes under construction at the corner of 136A Avenue and 228 Street in a subdivision at the Silver Ridge development.

People working on the homes say the blaze might have started with a spark from a roofer`s torch.

The fire has now destroyed at least four of the homes, which were unoccupied.

One other home where a family is currently living has also been severely damaged. They were not home at the time.

No injuries have been reported.
