TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,418.99 down 28.69 points):

Marengo Mining Ltd. (TSX:MRN). Miner. Up a penny, or 7.69 per cent, at 14 cents on 6,311,501 shares.

Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ). Oil and gas. Up six cents, or 0.28 per cent, at $21.85 on 5,706,684 shares.

Primero Mining Corp. (TSX:P). Miner. Up $1.90, or 35.85 per cent, at $7.20 on 5,422,684 shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 29 cents, or 2.67 per cent, at $10.59 on 3,337,119 shares. The gold sector dropped one per cent to 348.06 points.

Talison Lithium Ltd. (TSX:TLH). Miner. Down a penny, or 0.15 per cent, at $6.49 on 3,156,152 shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down 15 cents, or 0.45 per cent, at $33 on 3,120,603 shares. The energy sector slid 0.75 per cent to 260.60 points as the price of crude oil slipped US$1.83 to $89.88 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,344.98 up 4.13 points):

Mint Technology Corp. (TSXV:MIT). Prepaid debit card. Down 2.5 cents, or 23.81 per cent, at eight cents on 9,513,314 shares. The Toronto-based company completed its $300,000 private placement.

Sandstorm Metals and Energy Ltd. (TSXV:SND). Resource streaming. Up five cents, or 12.05 per cent, at 46.5 cents on 6,027,925 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Primero Mining Corp. (TSX:P). Miner. Up $1.90, or 35.85 per cent, at $7.20 on 5,422,684. The Toronto-based company`s stock was trading heavily after announcing that Mexican authorities ruled that Primero`s subsidiary appropriately recorded revenue and taxes from sales under its silver purchase agreement with Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSX:SLW).

Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ). Oil and gas. Up six cents, or 0.28 per cent, at $21.85 on 5,706,684 shares. Ottawa extended its review of a proposed $6-billion takeover of Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ) by Malaysia's Petronas to Oct. 19. The deal faces the key "net benefit'' test under the Investment Canada Act.
