Stars At We Day 2012: Jennifer Hudson, Martin Sheen And More Help Inspire Youth

Jennifer Hudson, Justin Trudeau, Martin Sheen And More Celebs At We Day To Inspire Youth

There's twenty thousand screaming kids in a stadium, and they want only one thing: To make the world a better place.

That's the kind of effect that We Day has on everyone who experiences the event, as it brings together schools and celebrities to rekindle the fervour for making an impact in the world around them, whether that means their community or developing countries. Created by Free the Children, an organization focused on "youth helping youth," this year marks the sixth time We Days will take place across Canada.

And each year, the lineup just becomes more and more impressive, with megawatt stars coming out to hype up the kids and get them really excited about giving support to what they believe in.

As Oscar and Grammy-award winner Jennifer Hudson, who performed at the Toronto event on September 28 put it:

Reports from the young participants were along exactly the same lines, with students vowing to take specific causes into their hearts and attempt to really make a difference, following the day's theme of "being the change." They have the right role model in Craig Kielburger, who, along with his brother Marc, formed Free the Children when he was 12 years old to raise awareness for children in Africa.

Celebrities at Toronto's We Day in 2012 included performances from Hudson, Shawn Desman, Nelly Furtado, Hedley and the Tenors, as well as inspirational speeches from Al Gore, Justin Trudeau, Martin Sheen and Roméo Dallaire.

Participants in the event also had a chance to talk about they would go about changing the world — check out their ideas here!
