Toronto police provided an update Tuesday on the investigation into the death of Anthony Spencer, including details on what happened on the last night of the victim’s life.
Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux said that Spencer had gone to a Brimley Road recording studio the night he died, along with other people involved in the local rap scene.
"All of the individuals who were present were the victims of robbery and the homicide of Mr. Spencer was the end result," Giroux told reporters Tuesday.
Two male suspects and a female suspect fled the scene, while Spencer’s friends placed him a vehicle and drove him to Scarborough General Hospital, Giroux said.
But Spencer died when he arrived at the hospital.
Both accused originally arrested soon after shooting
Within days of Spencer’s shooting, two men were arrested separately by the gun and gang task force.
Both men faced charges at that time in relation to a seized semi-automatic firearm, which Giroux said has subsequently been identified as the gun that killed Spencer.
Yesterday, these same two men were charged in connection with Spencer’s death.
Samuel Paul, 23, faces 12 criminal counts including first-degree murder, as well as robbery while armed with a firearm.
Chever Ashley, 22, faces 11 criminal counts including a single count of robbery while armed with a firearm and also with being an accessory after the fact to a murder.
Police are now seeking a third suspect, LaPrincia Palmer, 19, of Toronto.
Giroux said a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for her arrest on a charge of robbery while armed with a firearm, as well as attempting to obstruct justice.
Giroux urged Palmer to contact a lawyer and arrange to turn herself into police.Suggest a correction
