The family of a man critically injured in a hit and run Saturday night in Surrey, B.C., is pleading for the driver to come forward.

Jagdev Toor, 49, was operating a leaf blower at the back of the Dashmesh Darbar Sikh Gurdwara, a Sikh Temple in the 8600 block of 130th Street, when he was mowed down by a car.

There were no witnesses and it’s not clear how long Toor may have been on the roadway before a passing motorist called police.

Toor was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

"It's my appeal to the public if they know anything about the incident, if there is any witness, please come and tell us, help us and help us find the driver, and it's my request to the driver to do the right thing," Ramneet Sandhu, Toor's nephew, said at a media briefing Tuesday.

Police say the suspect vehicle is reddish with damage to the right front bumper, fender and likely windshield.

"If anyone has information about the suspect vehicle or the driver involved in this collision they are asked to come forward immediately and speak with our traffic investigators," said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet.

"The consequences of speaking to us now are much better than if they were to later."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
