Justin Trudeau came to Calgary as a Liberal leadership candidate Wednesday looking to soothe some historical bad blood and make a statement about the future of his party.

Thronged by photographers in a packed basement at the Dashmesh cultural centre, the son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau obliquely touched on one of his father’s most contentious legacies, the National Energy Program hated in Calgary.
