Good First Impression: What Not To Wear (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

What Not To Wear If You Want To Make A Good Impression

Whether you know it or not, there are certain things you should -- and should not -- wear if you want to make a good impression.

Why are we raising the issue? Three words: The Bachelor Canada.

For the most part, the bachelorettes got their "first impression" outfits right: they kept things subtle, picking dresses in on-trend colours (like orange and red) while also highlighting their assets with strategically placed jewellery.

But then there were those who got their date-night looks disastrously wrong. We're talking full-on squoob, chiffon, floor-length ball gowns and shimmery material.

We're not saying these ladies were overlooked by Mr. Smith because of their wardrobe choices, but the worst-dressed women were among the 10 who didn't receive a rose. Coincidence? Perhaps.

But it's a timely reminder to pay careful attention to how you dress if you want to make a good impression.

The above video, which was pulled together with the help of Lucky Magazine, hits home the point one should never "try too hard" when attempting to "wow" someone (whether that be on a first date or at a job interview).

Need more proof? Here are some not-so-lovely outfits donned by celebs. Would you give them a first impression rose?
