LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - An Alberta man has been fined for trying to smuggle a shotgun and enough parts to make three rifles from the U.S.

The Canada Border Services Agency says Dean Barret Regehr pleaded guilty in Lethbridge provincial court to smuggling, undervaluation, and evading compliance with the Customs Act.

The agency says Regehr was at the border in Coutts, Alta., on Sept. 4.

Regehr, of Sherwood Park, east of Edmonton, declared one shotgun, but when border officers searched his vehicle, they found various parts of firearms.

He was fined $9,000 and had to forfeit all weapons and gun parts.
