SASKATOON - Hundreds of people gathered for the state funeral of former Saskatchewan lieutenant-governor Sylvia Fedoruk.

Fedoruk is being remembered, in part, for her trailblazing work as the former chief medical physicist for the Saskatchewan Cancer Foundation.

She was one of four scientists who developed one of the first nuclear scanning machines and the cobalt 60 therapy unit in 1951.

Premier Brad Wall and former premiers Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert attended the funeral in Saskatoon to pay their respects.

Former University of Saskatchewan president Peter McKinnon delivered the eulogy.

Fedoruk died last week at the age of 85.
