Man wanted in Edmonton hit-and-run arrested in B.C.

A man wanted in connection with a collision that sent two people to hospital in Edmonton has been arrested by the RCMP in British Columbia.

Edmonton police have been searching for the man, 21, since the crash on Wednesday.

A man and a woman called 911 from their car while driving near 142 Avenue and 127 Street. They told police they were being chased by a Dodge truck that was being driven by someone they knew.

The two vehicles collided shortly afterwards.

The car lost control and hit a lamp post, while the truck left the scene. A man, 20, and a girl, 17, in the vehicle were sent to hospital in serious but stable condition.

The suspect was arrested in a Fort St. John hotel room Saturday night after police learned he may have fled to B.C. Weapons, drugs and stolen property were found during the arrest.

The man will be returned to Edmonton where he faces two counts each of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, as well as one charge of criminal hit-and-run.
