Dead moose causes serious accident

A driver was badly hurt and a 22-year-old passenger is in critical condition after the car they were in hit a moose carcass on Highway 10 near Magog in the Eastern Townships on Saturday night.

The incident took place about 125 kilometres southeast of Montreal.

It's not clear whether the 24-year-old driver swerved to avoid the dead moose or collided with the body before her vehicle spun out of control and crashed.

Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to rescue the women from the vehicle.
