Google Maps Street View Canada: Street View Showcases Canadian Travel Hot Spots

Street View Expands To Show Canadian Travel Destinations

Seeing Vancouver's picturesque Stanley Park is better done in person, but Google Street View has created the next best thing.

Tourists planning a trip to the coastal B.C. city can get an idea of what the park looks like, along with several other Canadian parks, trails, university campuses and zoos, thanks to a Street View update announced by the search engine today.

"Street View, as you know, is a useful resource when you’re planning a route or looking for a destination, but it can also magically transport you to some of the world’s picturesque and culturally significant landmarks," wrote Ulf Spitzer, Street View Program Manager, in an announcement on Google's website.

Considering the trouble Apple has been experiencing since launching its iOS6 Maps, now seems like a pretty good time for Google to show off just how expansive — and detailed — its network truly is.

Get the lay of the land at Canada's Wonderland, check out the bike path along the Pacific Rim Highway in Tofino, B.C. or explore the shops in Toronto's Kensington Market before packing your bags. Since some sites are already using Google Maps to help scour for hotels, this improvement can only enhance its spot on a travellers' must-click list.

The expansion doesn't stop at Canada's borders, either. Street View ran its cameras through some of the world's most popular destinations in a bid to update over 250,000 miles of roadways around the world, according to the announcement. Italy, the United States, Britain and France are among Canadian's favourite countries in the world for travel, so the enhancements are sure to help Canucks plan their next getaway.

Check out some of the Canadian destinations that are now included on Street View and let us know in the comments section below where your next trip is taking you — or what you wish was included:
