When it comes to fashion, fall is it. With so many fab trends this season, it wasn’t easy to pinpoint the best of the best for those in their 40s. Turning to fashion and wardrobe stylist Gemma Capone for advice, she shares her expertise on which trend to rock in your 40s, how to wear it and where to get it.

The inspiration: Jennifer Lopez

The trend: “A big fashion trend for this age group is animal print. This trend suits this group because they can dress with style, look appropriate, but still feel gorgeous and fabulous.”

How to wear: Capone says women may be concerned with staying elegant and sophisticated—which we all crave—but it can be costly. “Try pulling this look off with stores that have the look for less. If you are willing to spend more on designer pieces, go for separates and purchase pieces that will last a lifetime,” suggests Capone.

“Look for staple items, such as shoes, handbags or a coat. It must be versatile in colour and go with lots of other pieces. From zebra to leopard to snake, whatever you choose, it has to be good quality, and wear well with classic style.”

Make sure to keep things simple and let the print be your statement. “Consider an animal print blouse with a pair of neutral pants. Take into consideration your body shape, and that prints draw attention toward the areas they cover.”
